Super-Pave project logs 60,000,000 lbs. of asphalt!
Another booming area of suburban sprawl, an important stretch of 167th Street in the Tinley/Orland area is one of the major east-west thoroughfares servicing these communities. Gallagher Asphalt served in the capacities of Developer, Project Manager and Paving/Excavation Contractor for this extensive project. The scope of the work included removal of existing asphalt surface course, widening the roadway to three 12-foot lanes, and utilizing Superpave bituminous mixtures to handle the weight and wear of the area’s high traffic volumes, both from passenger vehicles and from considerable truck traffic. Other aspects of the project included installing sidewalk ramps, adding turn lanes, culvert replacement, pavement striping, landscaping, drainage additions, and installation of traffic signals.
Sixty million pounds of Super-Pave bituminous asphalt mixture later, the communities have a fully-functional roadway that provides more efficient traffic flow throughout this stretch of major artery—one that will last for years.
